We provide neat, clean, and comfortable shared accommodation for volunteers at Kalule Bwaise Children Shelter and Meaford Nursery and Primary School. Each offers a safe and welcoming environment where volunteers can relax, connect with others, and feel at home during their stay. Sharing accommodation also creates opportunities for friendship, cultural exchange, and unforgettable experiences while supporting our community projects in Uganda.
Our volunteers have access to clean, neat, and well-maintained washroom facilities. The facilities provide a comfortable and hygienic environment for volunteers throughout their stay.
Volunteers share freshly prepared local food with children at Kalule Bwaise Children Shelter for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A food-sharing contribution helps make those shared meals possible.

Preparation
A little preparation goes a long way. Here is what to arrange before you travel to Uganda.
Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates. Most nationalities can obtain a Ugandan visa on arrival or online in advance for approximately US$50.
Yellow fever vaccination is required. We also recommend hepatitis A, typhoid, and malaria prophylaxis. Consult your doctor or a travel health clinic at least six weeks before departure.
Comprehensive travel insurance including medical cover is required for all volunteers. This is not included in the US$175 weekly contribution.
Fly into Entebbe International Airport (EBB). The Front Aid team can advise on transport to Buwambo. Airport pickup is not included in the contribution.
Bring some Ugandan shillings or US dollars for personal spending. ATMs are available in Kampala. A local SIM card is inexpensive and recommended for data access.
Pack light, modest clothing suitable for a warm climate. Bring sunscreen, insect repellent, a torch, and any personal medications. Laundry facilities are available on site.
Tell us about yourself, your skills, and when you would like to volunteer. Applications are open year-round.
Our team will review your application and match you to the most suitable volunteer role and placement dates.
Once confirmed, we will send you a full preparation guide covering accommodation, travel, and what to expect on arrival.
